Sadia Rashid is a Pakistani educationist who is the current president of Hamdard Pakistan, Chancellor of the Hamdard University and President of the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA).
Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said known for his forte as provincial governor of Sindh as well as his leading research in Eastern Medicine, Dr. Said is hailed as Pakistan’s one of the most prominent figures in recent times.
Ms. Rashid has taken over her father’s venture and spearheaded Hamdard Foundation while maintaining her philanthropic work. This includes cultural exchange between Japan and Pakistan as well as Japanese language education for Pakistani nationals, all of which led her to receive the prestigious prize.
In February 2019, Sadia was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon, from the Japanese government in recognition of “her contribution for promoting cultural relations and mutual understanding between Japan and Pakistan.”
Her conferment came just a year before it marked the centennial of Dr. Said’s birth. Calling Dr. Suganami “my dear brother” with a sense of endearment, there has always been a strong bond between Ms. Rashid and he which was nurtured through years of relationship that almost resembles that of kinship. The news made Dr. Suganami so proud as if he were her real brother.
On 14 August 2024, Sadia was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, from the Government of Pakistan in recognition of “her exceptional contribution to the field of Education”
President's Message
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Pakistan-Japan Culture Association (PJCA Sindh). The enduring friendship between Pakistan and Japan is founded on mutual respect, trust, and a shared appreciation for education, culture, innovation, and human values. At PJCA, we are committed to strengthening these bonds by fostering meaningful cultural exchange, academic collaboration, and people-to-people engagement that bring our two nations closer together. The vision of promoting understanding between Pakistan and Japan through education, cultural appreciation, and mutual goodwill was deeply cherished by my late father, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said. It is a privilege to serve the Pakistan-Japan Culture Association Sindh, whose objectives and mission closely reflect these same ideals and have provided me with the opportunity to contribute towards strengthening the friendship between our two nations. PJCA is dedicated to promoting the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan and Japan while creating opportunities for collaboration in education, science, arts, heritage, research, and community development. Through these initiatives, the Association serves as a bridge between the people of both countries, fostering mutual understanding, encouraging dialogue, and inspiring future generations to build upon this enduring relationship.
I warmly invite you to join us in this shared endeavour. Together, let us continue to strengthen the bonds between Pakistan and Japan and promote a future built on friendship, cooperation, cultural harmony, and mutual respect.
